JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Reporting directly to the Tracks manager, you will be entrusted with leading the renewal projects of railway tracks and installations within your assigned geographic area.
  • Responsible for studying and defining the adaptation, renewal, and/or construction works of Tracks installations. Making decisions regarding techniques, resources (budget, personnel, and materials), and work methods on the site. Clearly setting out the chosen procedures and instructions with consideration for the impact of other specialties.
  • Conducting technical analyses, approving design plans of the sites, and solving technical issues. In case of incidents, you will be responsible for implementing the necessary personnel and technical resources and procedures.
  • Analyzing quotes from external contractors for carrying out renewal works and monitoring them further. Engaging specialized services for the realization as well.
  • Coordinating and ensuring the timely and high-quality completion of the assigned renewal projects.
  • Ensuring the safety of personnel on-site and acting as the safety coordinator for works with contractors.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal guidelines and legal provisions regarding safety, quality, and the environment on construction sites through organizing continuous training.
  • Proactively identifying risks, incidents, and opportunities, followed by developing improvement proposals and implementing them in collaboration with peers.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and fostering a constructive dialogue with other entities.
  • Managing your team on a daily basis (HR, financial, and technical aspects).
  • Partial office work with on-site monitoring.
This position is classified as Level 3 and Grade 6 according to the New Reward Plan. YOUR PROFILE
  • Holds a degree in Civil or Industrial Engineering, preferably in Construction, Electromechanics, or Mechanics.
  • Capable of independently planning work, considering priorities and deadlines.
  • Analytical, capable of understanding complex situations/problems and finding practical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, diplomatic, and based on solid arguments, with the ability to be assertive and a skilled negotiator.
  • Prioritizes safety, familiar with risks, and follows rules to ensure the safety of team members.
  • Flexible and willing to work nights and weekends regularly.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Holds a manual driving license (Category B).

To organize these tasks, we are looking for a motivated engineer to help us realize these projects. Within the Operations department, the extensive maintenance and renewal of rail infrastructure are essential for safe and punctual train traffic. As a project leader, you will work from Ghent, with your projects covering the provinces of Oost-Vlaanderen, West-Vlaanderen, Antwerpen, and Vlaams-Brabant. You will regularly travel by train or car. This role also involves working nights and weekends frequently.
