YOUR TASKS
- At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research.
- Supervise and support the elaboration of research proposals and the acquisition of funds in the broad field of global sexual and reproductive health;
- Methodological support for qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis;
- Contribute to strategic planning of research lines;
- Maintain and extend contacts in Belgium and abroad, Operate international networks around global sexual and reproductive health;
- Supervise and counsel master's students and doctoral students of the faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
- Assist in teaching activities of the Department with specific support in implementing the Apollo 8 framework and the globalisation of education within the Department of Public health & Primary care.
- Contribute to the implementaion of the cluster health & globalisation within the department of Public health & Primary care.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Master's degree in social or medical sciences, or comparable.
- Doctoral degree, preferably in (social) health sciences.
- For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in writing proposals and acquiring research funding;
- Knowledge of
- A minimum of 5 years' research experience in global health related domains;
- A minimum of 5 years' experience with research in the field of reproductive and sexual health and/or with research in resourcepoor setting (developing countries, vulnerable/hard to reach populations)
- Publications in (inter)national peerreviewed academic journals that are widely disseminated.
- Presentations and lectures at scientific conferences;
- Good social skills, able to inspire and motivate;
- Able to maintain an helicopter view and define balanced priorities within a divers package of tasks and responsibilities;
- Flexible, able to deal fluently with shifting needs and circumstances;
- Communicative, able to communicate fluently and convincingly both orally and in writing;
- Strong problemsolving and organisations skills;
- Show initiative;
- Able to work both autonomously and in an interdisciplinary & international team;
- Excellent working knowledge of English and Dutch; good working knowledge of French is an asset
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to three years, you can apply.
- The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term.
- Your appointment will start on 1 May 2023 at the earliest.
