YOUR TASKS

  • At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research and the coordination thereof in the research field of plants and crops and how they interact with abiotic (stress)elements in their environment.
  • You contribute to or are responsible for courses within the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering at the bachelor level, focusing on Bioinformatics, and at the master level, focusing on Biochemical and Molecular Analyses, and Plant Phenotyping Technologies.
  • You guide students at the bachelor level in the context of their bachelor's thesis.
  • You guide students at the master level in exercises, internships, and master's thesis.
  • You lead a team of doctoral students.
  • You play a supportive role in academic
- and industrial services.

  • You initiate new research initiatives through active contributions to project acquisition.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a doctoral degree of Doctor of Bioscience engineering or Doctor of Sciences. The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted.
  • You have already conducted research within the field of plants or crops and their interaction with the environment.
  • You are acquainted with bioinformatic tools.
  • You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher in your doctorate.
  • You are profoundly interested in coaching students in the Bachelor's, Master's and/or Advanced Master's programs.
  • You have a proven track record in education.
  • You may present relevant scientific publications in (inter)national peerreviewed academic journals that are widely disseminated.
  • You have a good knowledge of the Dutch language

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to three years, you can apply
  • The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term Your appointment will start on 1 February 2024 at the earliest
