Position:
In this role, you will be part of the SME Underwriting team based in Glasgow.
As a Risk and Underwriting Senior Analyst, your focus will be across various business lines such as GEH, NGO and B2G and you will discuss the performance of your SME contracts with the respective client managers.
Preparing all of your renewals using our pricing tools will allow you to become an expert in using these tools for all types of risks.
You are responsible for supporting the profitability of the whole book of business.A Risk and Underwriting Senior Analyst will be able to provide in depth professional advice to clients, client management and other members of the SME Underwriting Team, you will also perform claims analysis as part of our risk assessment.
You should be able to challenge client managers in their questions.You will support the pricing actuaries and underwriting manager in highlighting improvements in pricing tools or UW process whenever identified.
Reviewing the work of your colleagues will help you develop additional skills and insights to be able to grow your own potential and you will also support the Large Group Underwriting Team.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
- Perform and review casespecific risk assessments within SME
- Responsible for terms negotiations with Sales and Client Management
- Monitor account earnings plans to achieve growth and profitability
- Support escalation to the Senior Leadership Teams and actively take part in discussions
- Manage complex schemes: partnerships, topups, combined proposition and understand our products
- Work closely with Sales teams to audit and adjust quoting tools for Inspire & Cigna Connect
- Mentorship of junior members of staff & ongoing training/audit
- Manage monthly reporting
- Support large group Underwriting
- Propose and deliver changes to processes, tools and guidelines
Scope and Dimensions
Reports to Underwriting Senior Supervisor. Includes a knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the business.
Requires co-ordination and integration with every department including:
- Sales & Client Management
- Finance
- Actuarial
- Systems
- Legal services
- Operational teams
Experience/Education Required
- You have experience in underwriting, pricing/risk analysis or Insurance.
- You have management experience
- You are fluent in English
- You have strong analytical skills
- You are a good communicator and negotiator
- You are a problem solver
- You can work independently
- You have strong reporting skills
- You have a good knowledge of MS Office (Access, Excel).
