As an Edge Services Engineer at DPG Media, you'll be an essential member of our innovative Edge Services team. Collaborating closely, we'll explore strategies to efficiently manage our IT infrastructure, extending its reach beyond conventional boundaries. You'll play a pivotal role in optimizing the performance of our web application platforms that primarily operate across the internet. Join us in shaping the future of digital media delivery.These are the key domains we focus on: Domain names management Public DNS optimization Content Delivery Network enhancement Web Application Firewall fortification Profiel Your responsibilities:
The goal of the Edge Services team is to build and maintain a centralized platform to make the described domains self-serviceable for both our numerous it-teams and business units Concurrently, this platform will establish a digital asset database, serving as a foundation for various auxiliary services, such as security scanning.
As an Edge Services Engineer, your responsibilities will include: master one or more of the Edge domains / services;
use existing api's and create new api's to open-up services to it-teams and business units:
automation;
communicate with application teams to learn how they can leverage Edge Services to increase their productivity;
take operational responsibilities within your Edge domains:
reporting, request and incident response;
keep an eye on cost-effectiveness and security measures;
with the Edge Services team and other it-teams, make sure all domains within Edge Services are presented as one cohesive platform. Within the large IT department of DPG Media, Edge Services will be part of the Group IT area. This means Edge Services will span the whole organisation (all countries,NL/BE/DK, and business units) and creates a complexity you will have to deal with as part of your job. Unifying different requirements and toolings to one service platform is the core of Edge Services.
To sum up some of your responsibilities Centralized and Automated Management Domain names (portal + api driven) (7K domains);
Centralized andAutomated Management Public DNS (api driven);
Custodian Content Delivery Network, AKAMAI CDN (45pb served monthly);
Operational support Web Application Firewall;
Digital Public Asset Management. Our expectations:
Knowledge of Domain Name protocols;
Knowledge of DNS from an operational perspective;
Knowledge of Content Delivery Networks (preferably Akamai);
Knowledge of Web Application Firewall (preferably Akamai);
Knowledge of AWS Cloud Infrastructure (most tooling is built on AWS infrastructure);
Knowledge of API architecture;
Confident with scrum/kanban, Atlassian tooling (Confluence/Jira);
Experience in working in large organisations;
As a true expert you have an analytical, precise and reliable approach;
Ability to workindependently with an eye for detail;
Sociable and communicative and convincing when needed;
Hands-on and always aiming for business value;
Very good levelin Dutch and English;
