The European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC) is a non-profit umbrella organisation based in Brussels that represents the voice of people with cancer in Europe and beyond.
With 450 members in 50 countries, its vision is for a Europe of equality, where all Europeans with cancer have timely and affordable access to the best treatment and care available.
ECPC works towards this vision by influencing the European political agenda, empowering and educating its members, and increasing the role of patients in cancer research.
The Position
We are looking for two talented, sociable and ambitious communications professionals to contribute in the achievement of the goals of our mission.
The Communications Officers will be working in EU-funded research projects (Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, IMI, etc), ECPC-led awareness and policy campaigns and initiatives, as well as liasing with ECPC members and supporting our partners.
The position reports to the Communications Manager and to the Director/PresidentResponsibilities:
- Implementing the communications requirements of the Annual Action Plan by organizing events, writing press releases, posting in social media, updating website, and other published work.
- Contribute to the dissemination actitivities of the EU funded projects planning the promotion activities of each project, preparing press releases, patient surveys, organizing webinars and workshops
- Collaboration and communication with our members, building meaningful relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
- Organise in collaboration with the Senior Communications Officer, our various online and face to face events during the year, our participation at the ESMO, ASCO and other big Congresses.
- Keep the website (wordpress) in optimal condition, updating news, assuring that information is published in logical order, taking care of its good maintenance, renewing older content, grouping content of the same category, etc. Make ECPC social media accounts (Twitter, FB, LI, YouTube) a live source of information by regularly posting ECPC news, project information, participations of board members in events, stories.

Communications:
- Creativity and thinking out of the box
- Strong interpersonal communication and networking skills
- A marketing and political flair.
- Ability to understand and translate complex situations and issues into content that resonates with nonspecialist audience, journalistic style, understanding of the traditional and online media's world, taste for research and argumentation
- Ability to produce a communications plan
Partnerships:
- Collaborate with the Membership and Partnerships Officer on the many ECPC partnerships, members, sponsors, partners, collaborators, media partners, etc. Keeping track of the different partnerships in a continuously updated database
- Ability to communicate clearly and consistently, while creating a sense of community within each of our stakeholders

Requirements:
- A Master's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, political science, or related field is required
- At least 3 years of proven experience in the communications field in a similar job, traineeships and short interims do not count
- Excellent use of written and oral English is mandatory, fluency in a second EU language is required
