Duties:
- Provides technical oversight of the Information Technology platforms selected and utilized in the design and construction of Integrated Infrastructure backbones that support USAREUR-AF area of responsibility.
- Provides technical planning guidance to the Signal Battalion on emerging technologies and the impact these technologies could have on existing base operations in USAREUR-AF.
- Identifies IT systems and telecommunications network requirements to meet command objectives.
- Reviews and refines plans and requests submitted by subordinate and outside activities for IT system support.
- Provides review, evaluation, validation and staff direction on Signal Battalion telecommunications facilities.
- Represents the command at meetings, conferences and staff visits to adjacent commands, and subordinate units.
- Reviews and develops staff position on contractor provided proposals and cost estimates.

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) or access for the duration of employment.

- Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (Policy and Planning):
- The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
