Scientist Neurodegeneration

A permanent position is available for a Scientist in the Neuroscience Therapeutic Area in Beerse, Belgium.

Key Responsibilities:

• Works under some supervision with a high level of autonomy
• Independently formulates hypothesizes as well as designs, performs and analyses experiments.
• Proactively investigates and develops improvements to existing protocols and processes or develops new and improved basic processes.
• Follows all Environmental, Health & Safety laboratory safety standards and maintains company compliance requirements.
• Timely writes accurate scientific experimental electronic reports and drafts manuscripts for peer review.
• Identifies new areas of research consistent with the strategic direction.
• Ensures the availability and maintenance of adequate laboratory materials and motivates the purchase of new materials and equipment.
• Collaborates across research groups to share results.
• Indirectly or directly leads or sets objectives for others on team projects and tasks including supervision of nonPh.

D. scientists.

• Empowers project members to meet project checkpoints and accomplish team objectives on time and within budget.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Ph.

D.

degree (or equivalent) with 2-3 years post-doctoral experience in the field of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's or Parkinson's or 12 years of experience performing progressively advanced duties beyond a B.S.

degree.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

• Demonstrated experience with in vitro research including cell culture, IPSCs derived neurons and/or rodent primary neurons.
• Proficient in molecular biology, biochemistry, and imaging techniques (qPCR, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, ICC, fluorescence/confocal microscopy).
• Datadriven, detailed oriented, with strong organizational and recordkeeping skills to run several experiments simultaneously.
• Proven critical scientific thinking and creativity to troubleshoot and solve scientific problems.
• Great teammate with the ability to connect efficiently with people internally and externally.
• Excellent scientific communication skills with proven publication track record and experience in national and international conferences.
• Experienced in the writing and composition of scientific reports/manuscripts.
• Oral and written professional english proficiency.

Preferred:

• In vivo techniques handson experience (routine animal handling, dissections, IHC) with Accreditation or Certification of Regularization by the Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations (FELASA B or C), or equivalent foreign certification.

Other:

• Travel percentage 05%
