Scope of the function
Reporting directly to the Financial Analyst Manager, the Central Capex Controller is responsible for financial monthly closing and for preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements related to the capital investment projects.
Also in charge of coordinating capex yearly budgeting and quarterly forecast processes and carrying out the continuous monitoring of budget envelopes set by the Group.
Responsible for analysis and follow up of engineering profit and loss statement. Holds the expertise knowledge about accounting financial interpretation of capital investments, balance sheet. Creates the guidelines and provides the advisory to the regions or engineering teams.As member of the KI Central Capex Controlling Department, this function will be in direct contact with the Knauf Capex Group Controlling, Central Engineering and plants.
Missions and responsibilities
- Realize monthly CAPEX reporting to the key stakeholders, analyze investment projects vs budget and develop automatic reporting solutions. Verify the monthly group reports (GSA reports) and ensure data accuracy between different reporting systems. Be able to identify root causes and solutions.
- Carry out the monthly engineering closing and monitor their performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance.
- Coordinate the investment forecasting and budgeting process between the plants and Knauf Group, creates the process, check completeness and coherence of data, oversee the respect of deadlines, and prepare overviews for the management.
- Ensure tax and HGB compliance of capital project spending. Oversee that guideline, definitions are followed by regions, plants, engineering. Translates the directives from group into the internal action plans.
- Review or develop financial models for major (>= EUR 10 million) and special (>= EUR 2 million) investments that supports management for decision making purpose.
- Constantly adapt and review the existing CAPEX related processes, seek improvement and optimize in line with long/midterm company development. Educate nonfinancial people and enforce company policies in a collaborative, rather than adversarial way.
- Provide help and assistance for all stakeholders of the investment cycle with SAP Project System and Asset Accounting modules, system changes, capitalization process.
- Support Senior Management Team and Departments heads with indepth analysis such as accounting qualification CAPEX/OPEX, Finance. Lease/Operating Lease or other adhoc analysis.
Your profile
Experience required
- Master's in finance or economics
- 57 year of experience in similar area
- Comprehensive understanding of Finance and Accounting principles, processes & structures, together with strong financial statement analysis capability
- Experience with accounting standards, capitalization process and IFRS / GAAP requirements towards capex
- Full fluency in English, working knowledge in German is a strong asset
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office 365 required) with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Knowledge of SAP (Purchase to Pay, Project system, Asset management), BW, Tableau and databases
- Interest in technical aspects of business, engineering focus would be a plus
