The Process Innovation Manager role is part of the Innovation and Commercial team of Boortmalt, reporting into Group Innovation Manager.


As Process Innovation Manager within the Global Innovation team at Boortmalt, you will lead the discovery, testing and implementation of new technologies, relevant to the strategic ambition of the business. You will be supported in the Proof of Concept and Pilot stages of R&I projects by the Pilot Plant Specialist (who is responsible for the Innovation Center's activities and equipment). Collaboration with equipment producers, research centers, universities is essential.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the creativity process for generation of new ideas related to process development
  • Developing the test plan for new equipment/installations/technologies, according to the Stage Gate Process approach for innovation
  • Developing the business plan, for new ideas, to support prioritizing the new projects
  • Collaborating closely with the commercial team, operation team and equipment suppliers identifying new opportunities relevant to the business
  • Supervising the planning and execution of every Stage Gate step that will ensure a successful and reliable outcome
  • Coordinating the discussions, meetings and tests with 3rd parties, involving all the relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Exploring new industries and markets for new ideas
  • Promoting a culture of innovation within the team and across the business, by being an ambassador of innovation and creating solutions that boost creativity (gamification, hackatons etc)
  • Working closely with the operation team and continuous improvement team for alignment, integration and acceptance of the new solutions in production
  • Supporting the commercial team and our customers in explaining and adopting new technologies
  • Collaborating closely with the Pilot Plant Specialist and Lab teams for the planning and realization of the tests required for the POC and Pilot tests
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations including food safety, for any new technology tested and implemented
  • Collaborating with Universities, Research Centers, exploring new solutions that support the project
  • Participating to fairs and conferences to identify new ideas, inspiration and exploration
  • Contributing to the formation of one or more elements of functional strategy on new process development through specialist expertise and
insights

  • Defining and delivering products that meet customer current & future needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems
  • Staying attuned to business and industry changes, ensures own activities remain aligned to key objectives
  • Planing and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
  • Working closely with the communication team to build a strong communication platform on innovation both internally as well as externally

Skills and Qualifications

  • You have a degree in a scientific field, or equal by experience
  • You have knowledge of brewing and/or malting and are experience in practical malting
  • Experience in Project Management and working in an R&I environment is a plus.
  • You are Methodical, disciplined and have an innovative mindset
