Junior Syndicate Analyst/Associate - GCM Debt capital markets - Brussels:

Your role & work environment*:


On the Investment grade syndicate desk (as part of the broader GCM franchise), new bond transactions (for corporates, financial institutions and sovereigns/Agencies) are being prepared, structured and distributed to the international investor market.

Your role is to have daily contacts with the global DCM bond Origination and Syndicate team, the different sales & trading teams in Europe, the US & Asia and the legal teams.

You will assist the senior syndicate team members in successfully placing the bonds. Your working space consists of a young and dynamic team acting in an international context.

More specifically, we are looking to hire a dynamic person as a junior syndicate manager for the SSA segment (Sovereigns/Supra-nationals/Agencies) and operations support within the DCM syndicate activity.


Your key responsibilities:

  • As a junior syndicate team member, you will have the following responsibilities_

_ Sovereigns / Supra-Nationals / Agencies_
- _Learn to understand how macro-economic and geopolitical situations impact bond markets and be able to identify opportunities._
- _Support syndicate during the execution of new bond issues_
- _Maintain good contacts with sales, trading and origination teams in Brussels, Amsterdam, Milan, Madrid, London, New York and Singapore. Proactively collect where needed market intelligence via the international sales and trading teams. _
- _Help processing new mandates from start to finish: marketing messages, sales support, pricing dummies_
- _Co-organise roadshows and collection of feedback to advise syndicate members in their discussions with issuers/origination teams_
- _Assist senior managers in the proposition of pricings for our issuer clients._

Operations support_**- _Maintain data of new issue information in databases/excel sheets for future use in pricing updates and marketing. Programming and updating of Excel based pricing sheets will be a key part of the function_
- _Support in the booking flow of transactions/record keeping of fees/sales credits_
- _Become an expert in the internet book-builder used to execute transactions with other banks_
- _Be able to automate processes where needed

As a junior syndicate manager you will need:

  • _Education_ : High School/University degree with preference for an economic / mathematical background.
- _Experience_ : Some initial experience in wholesale banking/an International Capital Markets context/Financial markets/IT department is an advantage but not a must.
- _Good _knowledge_ of_ : Microsoft office and excel in particular / knowledge of Visual basic/Python programming helps. Given our world becomes more digital, affinity with IT processes is seen as an advantage.
- _Skills_ : Excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of an extra language is seen as an asset. Commercial attitude, stress resistant, eye for detail, flexible, data/IT oriented, team player, mathematical, an "out of the box thinking" and "make it happen" attitude. Eager to learn.
