We are looking for a
Gene Therapy Downstream Process Sciences Associate Scientist to join us in our
CMC Process Development team, in
Belgium

About the role


The
Gene Therapy (GT) Downstream Process Sciences Associate Scientist will be responsible for
supporting Downstream Process Development laboratory activities for UCB's recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) gene therapy products.

This individual will be accountable for executing experiments, collecting data, organizing the lab, and supporting safety-related activities.

Who you'll work with:

Elise Huang as your Manager as well as many others direct colleagues from different backgrounds supporting the establishment and operation of a development and manufacturing facility for gene therapy products.

What you'll do:

  • Leveraging your academic experience in chemical science and/or industry experience related to biologics.
  • Developing an understanding of AAV physical and chemical properties to improve downstream purification process.
  • Presenting regularly to downstream team.
  • Supporting downstream smallscale and pilotscale development activities.
  • Authoring & reviewing technical documents including tech transfer document, electronic batch records, process descriptions, study designs, SOPs, technical position papers, & technical reports.

Interested? For this role we're looking for the following
education, experience
and
skills

  • Master's degree in chemistry with ideally 0 to 3 years of industrial experience with biomolecules (amino acids, peptides, proteins, virus, cells, or more) even if direct experience is not required.
  • Any handson experience with biological materials and the design of biological experiments.
  • Technical knowledge of chromatography or membrane filtration.
  • Experience with data and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with programing, i.e. Python, is preferred but not required.
  • Very good command in English, both spoken and written.
