IDS is a leading in-vitro diagnostic solution provider to the clinical laboratory market. We develop, manufacture and market innovative immunoassays and automated immunoanalyser technologies to provide improved diagnostic outcomes for patients.
The Liege site was founded as a spin off from the University of Liege in 1989 and now houses 75 employees spread across operations, R&D and administrative functions.
It is centre of excellence for the production and development of IDS automated assays and ancillaries for use on the IDS range of analysers.
Here, we produce around 170,000 assay kits per year and have five R&D teams working on development projects related to automated assays.
Job Purpose
In this role you will be actively involved in defining and managing the purchasing strategy, ensuring that it is implemented through a choice of products, services and suppliers, according to the needs of the company.
Principal Accountabilities
- Organisation of stock monitoring and replenishment rules for raw materials and general purchasing to ensure timely supply
- Cost optimisation and reduction (PPV)
- Define purchasing programmes and procedures for services and products with other departments

- Initiate and manage the strategy for projects associated with cost savings
- Work with the Finance department to continue to establish and develop robust reporting mechanisms to ensure visibility and achievement of set targets
- Work with R&D to develop appropriate purchasing methods for materials and services associated with products under development
- Build and manage supplier quality and develop longterm relationships with preferred suppliers
- Prospecting, drafting tenders and selecting suppliers capable of meeting the company's strategic needs
- Contribute to the search for alternative solutions to improve products, packaging and management solutions
- Continuous monitoring of purchasing procedures and their improvement
- Define, with the departments concerned, the control points which will enable the optimisation of raw material control and contribute to the budgetary control of expenditure
- Advise and support management in the implementation of the purchasing policy and the setting of cost, quality and time optimisation objectives
- Negotiate with suppliers the conditions of supply in terms of cost, quality, lead time, payment conditions, etc.
- Management and review of supplier contracts
- Ensuring the proper routing of goods until receipt
- Responsible for the monitoring and evolution of the raw material stock in order to limit overstocks and obsolescence as much as possible and to put in place corrective measures
- Collaborate with the international group purchasing teams (category purchasers).

- Participate in crossfunctional projects within the operations in order to anticipate the risk on the flow of raw materials
- Maintain up to date and take into account in the implementation of processes the recommendations and requirements of the standards followed by IDS
