To reinforce the group-management in Brussels (Elsene) we are looking for a:
Legal Manager
Your function


As the Legal Manager (Group function), you will be in charge of the implementation of the legal policy within the Group De Cloedt.


To this end you roll out the existing legal activities within the organisation in Belgium and abroad and set forward the path of the legal department for the future.

As a sparring partner of the management and business lines, you go through the material conditions of contracts, support them in ad hoc legal issues, analyse legal issues and give solicited (and unsolicited) advice.

In this way, you facilitate the functioning of the company and creation of added value within the organisation.


There is a strong focus on commercial and corporate law (including M&A) as well as dispute resolution, but the position is general.


In addition, you will manage an experienced Paralegal and instruct and manage the different external lawyers working for the group both within Belgium and internationally.


You are in the driving seat to ensure that the added value of the position of the legal department remains well established within group and regional management.

The Legal Manager will report directly to the CFO.

This function will be based in our HQ in Elsene.

You will be in charge of:
The organisation of the legal department
Reviewing and drafting a broad spectrum of commercial contracts and general terms and conditions
Advising and supporting, among others, the management and sales teams on all their ad hoc Legal related questions
Assisting in and facilitating negotiations
Managing and instructing the paralegal
Drafting necessary templates and procedures for recurring legal issues and topics
Assisting with and, where necessary, providing and monitoring legal compliance
Involving and liaising with external counsel
Advising on all kinds of ad hoc legal issues

Profile:

You have at least 5 years' experience as a legal counsel in an international firm, or as a lawyer in a reputed law firm
You have an interest in corporate and commercial law, in particular
You are very communicative and able to work closely with C-level sparring partners, management, the board of directors, as well as teams of experts, such as HR, sales, public procurement
You are able to work fully autonomously and make decisions based on the instructions of the CFO/CEO and/or the board of directors
You take initiative and take on projects without being prompted
You are precise, but maintain a holistic view
You are very flexible and are able to create order in a less structured environment
You are fluent in Dutch and English and have a sufficient knowledge of French
You are a good team player, build bridges and comfortable in voicing your opinion
