Duties

:

  • Provides technician support by performing a wide variety of direct services to the public:
  • registers patrons, charges/discharges materials, processes overdues and reserves, assists with interlibrary loans and reserves, shelves library materials, prepares displays, programs activities, answers basic reference questions, and assists customers in locating materials;
  • Provides technical services support in a variety of functions: basic/copy cataloging, ordering/receiving/processing and deacquisitioning of library materials.
  • Assists in maintaining accountability records and in performing shelf inventories.
  • Performs simple maintenance on the library's automated systems.

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • Possesses satisfactory completion of preemployment background checks in accordance with AR 2153, 213, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Successfully complete a health screening. Immunizations required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.
  • Incumbent may perform physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, pushing of loaded trucks; and recurring lifting of heavy items such as boxes of books or journals.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds (lbs).

Qualifications

:

  • One (1) year of specialized experience performing the following duties: follow basic and wellestablished library procedures, perform duties related to circulation, acquisition, disposal of library materials, as well as collection, maintenance and preservation of books.
  • Or
  • Two (2) years of education above high school level.
  • Or
  • A combination of experience and education that is equivalent to at least six (6) months of specialized experience performing the duties listed above and at least one (1) year of education above high school
