Team and division overview
The Advanced Technology division focuses on developing innovative technology solutions for the automotive industry to bring joy to our customers. Through a combination of internal research and a vast network across Europe, we explore and test new concepts in various environments before integrating them into future products. This role is part of the AI Core Research team, dedicated to advancing research in machine learning and computer vision.
Your project
Vision Language Models (VLMs) have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in describing diverse image contents through language, paving the way for AI assistants that can comprehend our surroundings and assist with daily tasks. However, current models lack the ability to understand user-specific details or personal belongings. We aim to develop a specialized vision language model that can identify users, their family members, personal items, etc. Picture an assistant robot for the elderly retrieving personal belongings, or a model that can provide personalized descriptions of images and scenes ('your sun,' 'your mug,' 'your favorite book,' etc.). The plan is to enhance a pre-existing generic VLM with a specialization module. During this internship, we will guide you in advancing towards specialized VLM tasks.

Your Profile
- Proficiency in English (TME's primary business language)
- Solid background in machine learning
- Preferably experience with vision and language models
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks
- Ability to comprehend research papers, implement solutions, and suggest innovative ideas
