The "WAVES" research group ) is the expertise center of the Department of Information Technology of Ghent University/IMEC in Belgium for physical-layer research of advanced wireless networks, bioelectromagnetics, and measurements, simulations and modeling of the radio channel and electromagnetic exposure of current and future wireless networks.

YOUR TASKSMonitoring of electromagnetic (EM) fields of legacy and 5th generation (5G) wireless networks is important for governments for risk communication and to inform the population.

Monitoring nodes have been designed in the WAVES group and are being rolled out in a measurement network. These nodes enable us to provide spatio-temporal data about electromagnetic radiation in real environments. The nodes need to be re-designed in a new architecture to enable multiple agents to be monitored.

Moreover, field measurements at different locations with spectrum analyser equipment and measurement probes are important for accurate field assessment and calibration of the monitoring nodes.

  • Experimental assessment and measurements of EM fields WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR- You hold a Master's degree (electrical engineering or a related Master of Science degree).- We are looking for enthusiastic candidates to perform research in the domains above in both national and international projects.

- We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of 2 years.- Your contract will start on 1/09/2024 at the earliest.- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master's degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate).
