Function

As a Secondary Systems Expert, you will build expertise on the management and implementation of new assets and the linked processes.

In general, the tasks of an expert mainly include:

  • Elaborating the technical requirements of the secondary part (protections, automation and control) of a high-voltage substation on the basis of concept notes, participation in multidisciplinary teams for analysis of offers and market allocation.
  • Managing the framework agreements, including processes between Elia and suppliers for the construction and reception testing of equipment.
  • Drafting technical standards and solutions based on concept notes and guidelines for application in ELIA investment projects.
  • Supporting and advising the project teams.
  • Developing and providing technical training to the operational entities.
  • Participating in internal, national and international working groups as an expert.

Within the Secondary Systems Expertise team, you will join the "Protection & Automation" sub-team. Here you will mainly be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Coordinating the Software & Interface team
    • Managing the planning and monitoring the workload
    • Following up the status of deliverables on a weekly basis
    • Following up of the preFAT/FAT feedback process
    • Technical support for the team
    • Defining the working methods to increase quality & efficiency (checklist, REX, ...)
  • Technical support for the projects (checking block diagrams, developing guidelines, ...)
  • Developing and updating the SPACS3 standards (diagrams, info lists, LUA, ...)

Over time, the range of tasks may be adapted - depending on the needs within the team and your own interests.

Acquiring the necessary technical expertise in the subject matter is a prerequisite for performing the above activities.

Your Profile
  • You are a civil or industrial engineer in electricity or electromechanics.
  • You can express yourself both verbally and in writing in Dutch, French and English.
  • You have a strong affinity for electrical engineering and are willing to build up and share technical expertise.
  • You look for pragmatic solutions and are customer and result oriented.
  • You do not shy away from actively going into the field yourself when performing your tasks in cooperation with the operational entities.
  • You can work smoothly in a team, are communicative and have a good power of persuasion.
  • You have strong analytical and synthesizing skills so that you can clearly communicate a complex subject matter (both orally and in writing).
  • You independently and proactively manage the pre-agreed set of tasks.
  • You can report clearly and in a structured way on the results of your activities under report form or by means of a presentation.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office is a plus.
  • Several years of experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Elia's low-voltage protection philosophy is a plus.
  • Knowledge of IEC61850 is also a plus.
