About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Designer Specialist Expertise Secondary Systems to join a leading organisation operating within the electricity transmission and energy infrastructure sector.
This position offers the chance to contribute to the development and maintenance of technical standards used within high-voltage transmission infrastructure, supporting the ongoing evolution of a reliable, sustainable, and future-focused electricity network.
Working within the Grid Expertise & Standards (Secondary Systems) function, you will play a key role in the design, review, and standardisation of protection, control, automation, and measurement systems used across critical grid infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and validate supplier technical drawings, designs, and standard documentation.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) when required.
- Develop and maintain AutoCAD symbols based on approved supplier documentation.
- Create, review, and update standard plans, protection block diagrams, and detailed principle schematics.
- Ensure designs comply with established methodologies, concept requirements, engineering standards, and approved equipment specifications.
- Manage workload effectively to meet project priorities and deliverables.
- Maintain, improve, and adapt Excel-based engineering tools, including VBA/macros.
- Design and develop additional tools to support engineering and operational activities when required.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Energy Technology, Electromechanics, Electronics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- A solid understanding of electrical engineering principles.
- The ability to read, interpret, and analyse electrical schematics.
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Previous experience within a similar engineering or design environment.
- Fluency in Dutch and/or French, together with a good command of English.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to take ownership of responsibilities.
- An interest in emerging technologies and the future of the energy sector.
- Flexibility to undertake occasional short-duration international travel for Factory Acceptance Tests.
