Our client is a leading global chemical manufacturer with annual revenues exceeding USD 20 billion and a strong international presence across the polyurethane, petrochemical, and specialty chemicals sectors. The organization serves a diverse range of industries worldwide and continues to invest in growth, innovation, and market expansion.
As part of its continued growth strategy, the company is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive polyurethane (PU) sales growth across the Benelux region (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg). This is a remote-based position with significant customer-facing responsibilities.
Position Summary
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for growing the company's polyurethane raw materials business across the Benelux market. The role combines key account management and new business development, focusing on expanding market share, strengthening customer partnerships, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering sustainable revenue growth.
This position is ideally suited for a commercially driven professional with strong industry knowledge, strategic thinking, and experience operating in international business environments.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Manage and develop existing customer accounts throughout the Benelux region.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities to expand market presence.
- Develop and execute regional sales strategies aligned with broader business objectives.
- Create annual sales plans, forecasts, and growth targets for assigned customers and territories.
- Achieve sales volume, profitability, and margin objectives.
- Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing strategies, and long-term partnerships.
Customer Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned customers and industry stakeholders.
- Build and maintain long-term customer relationships through regular engagement and site visits.
- Represent the company professionally while promoting a customer-centric approach.
- Facilitate effective communication between customers and internal functions to ensure excellent service delivery.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, customer developments, and broader industry dynamics.
- Identify opportunities for growth and areas of potential risk.
- Provide market insights and strategic recommendations to support business planning.
- Support commercial decision-making through market analysis and customer intelligence.
Planning, Reporting & Coordination
- Implement and track sales action plans to achieve agreed objectives.
- Monitor contract performance and sales effectiveness.
- Prepare accurate sales forecasts, market reports, and management updates.
- Collaborate closely with technical, marketing, supply chain, and customer service teams to ensure efficient execution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in polyurethane raw materials sales, including products such as Polyols, MDI, TDI, HDI, IPDI, PU Systems, and related polyurethane solutions
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in an international business environment.
- Proven success in both key account management and new business development.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving revenue growth.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote-based environment.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50% within the Benelux region.
- Fluent English and Dutch. Additional language skills are considered an advantage.
Preferred
- Experience within rigid foam, CASE (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants & Elastomers), or related polyurethane applications.
- Strong understanding of the Benelux polyurethane market, customer landscape, and value chain.
- Existing network of industry contacts across Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
