High volume, real urgency, and contracts that have to stand up to audit.

Working to the principal contracting officer, you would own the contractual side of procurement for a multinational defence organisation, on‑site in Brussels, Belgium.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Every contractual step of competitive and sole-source procurement: drafting, coordinating and releasing solicitations, evaluating and analysing bids, holding discussions with bidders and awarding contracts under the organisation's own procedures
  • Coordinating with contractors so tasks are performed on time and to the contract
  • Managing a high volume of requests for quotation and purchase orders, often under pressure
  • Contract administration — changes, amendments and the paperwork that keeps them clean
  • Reviewing business cases and deciding the right procurement route: open market or a collaborative framework
  • Investigating, resolving or escalating procurement problems, and driving supplier service improvement
  • Supporting internal customers, and contributing to acquisition reporting on time and to standard

What you will need

  • Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with four years of relevant experience, or a secondary qualification with six — plus, at a responsible level, at least eight years in contracting, finance or business
  • Demonstrated knowledge of competitive and sole-source procurement procedure, price analysis, contract law, contract administration and industrial practice
  • Experience of high-value, high-volume framework contracts for services
  • Maintaining financial records to a compliance and audit standard
  • Software licence procurement, and a grip on perpetual versus subscription models
  • The judgement to work independently and responsibly
  • Fluent business English

Nice to have

  • Public sector procurement background
  • Prior work in an international environment with both military and civilian elements
  • Basic-level contracting training courses on top of your vocational qualification

Why this one is worth a look

Procurement here is not administrative box-ticking — you decide the route, run the competition and hold the supplier to it, on contracts that matter to operational delivery.
