Purpose:
The Strategic Capacity Planning role leads the strategic capacity planning process for the clinical manufacturing network, translating clinical sourcing strategies and portfolio demand into an integrated, long-range capacity outlook. The role connects pipeline demand, technical capabilities, operational capacity, financial considerations, and business priorities to enable timely, cost-effective, resilient, and risk-balanced decisions across internal pilot plants, contract manufacturing organizations, and the broader clinical manufacturing network. Operating with significant autonomy, this role owns the planning framework, assumptions, governance, and decision-quality outputs for the strategic horizon. The role partners with senior leaders across TDS Pilot Plants, External Manufacturing, TDS Strategy & Operations, IMSC Value Chain Management, IMSC Planning, Finance, Portfolio Integration, and CMC; influences without direct authority; and escalates capacity, technology, investment, and supply risks with clear recommendations.
You will be responsible for:
- Own and lead the end-to-end strategic capacity planning process across a rolling 3-5+ year horizon for the internal and external clinical manufacturing network.
- Develop and maintain an integrated, modality-agnostic long-range capacity plan across API, drug product and packaging activities.
- Align pipeline, sourcing, and portfolio assumptions with Portfolio Integration, CMC, Pilot Plant leaders, Planning, and external manufacturing partners.
- Establish planning standards, capacity definitions, data requirements, governance routines, and performance measures that improve consistency and decision quality.
- Build and present scenarios that quantify capacity gaps, excess capacity, timing constraints, technology needs, cost, speed, resilience, and risk.
- Translate analyses into strategic insights, executive recommendations, and decision-ready trade-offs covering patient supply, asset utilization, cash flow, inventory, waste, and contractual commitments.
- Lead cross-functional scenario planning and align stakeholders on pilot plant, CMO, and IMSC sourcing options, including cost, speed, resilience, business continuity, and investment implications.
- Anticipate future technology and capability requirements with Portfolio Integration and CMC, and optimize enterprise network capacity with IMSC Value Chain Management and IMSC Planning.
- Lead continuous improvement of planning capabilities through advanced analytics, probabilistic forecasting, simulation, optimization, and digital twin concepts.
- Provides input to the TDS representative in the IMSC Network Sourcing Council and other senior governance forums, and provide coaching and subject-matter leadership to planning colleagues and project teams.
