Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Database Engineer to support the European Commission in Geel, Belgium . The successful candidate will bring strong database development expertise, particularly in Oracle PL/SQL , combined with hands-on experience in Jasper Reports .

The Database Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimising database solutions and reporting components, while ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability within a professional enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimise database solutions.
  
• Develop and maintain PL/SQL procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and queries.
  
• Analyse and troubleshoot database-related issues and implement appropriate solutions.
  
• Perform database performance analysis and query optimisation.
  
• Develop, maintain, and enhance reports using Jasper Reports .
  
• Support the integration of database and reporting components with existing applications and systems.
  
• Contribute to technical documentation, testing, deployment, and maintenance activities.
  
• Work closely with developers, analysts, and other technical stakeholders.
  
• Follow European Commission development, security, quality, and documentation standards.
  

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in database engineering, database development, or a closely related technical role.
  
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with PL/SQL.
  
• At least 3 years of professional experience with Jasper Reports.
  

Technical Profile

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of:

• SQL and relational database concepts
  
• Data analysis and troubleshooting
  
• Version control and structured software development environments
