Vacancy: Research Associate – Fermentation
Welcome to Those Vegan Cowboys, where microbes make the cheese.
Are you fascinated by proteins, fermentation and the idea of making cheese without cows? Do you enjoy hands-on lab work and solving bioprocess puzzles? Saddle up, you might be the new Research Associate joining our team
At Those Vegan Cowboys, we’re building the cheese and other application of the future with the help of microbes. To support our mission, we’re looking for a Research Associate to join our Fermentation team and help develop and optimize the microbial processes at the heart of our recombinant protein production pipeline.
Job Description
What you’ll be doing:
- Run and optimize microbial fermentations from 1L to 15L bioreactors and contribute to scale-up towards 300L pilot runs.
- Perform analytical assays such as SDS-PAGE, UPLC and Bradford to characterize and quantify proteins and support fermentation process development.
- Collect, analyze and interpret experimental data, translating results into conclusions, reports, protocols and SOPs.
- Work closely with the Purification and Strain Engineering teams to ensure a transition between upstream and downstream processes and to support the overall protein production pipeline.
- Present your findings and discuss results with colleagues through meetings, reports and written communication.
- Keep lab equipment, experimental records and documentation in excellent shape.
- Actively contribute to a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree – or equivalent relevant experience
- Hands-on experience with microbial fermentation and lab-scale bioreactors (Dasgips, Sartorius C-DCU)
- Pilot-scale experience (Infors) is a bonus
- Familiarity with analytical techniques such as SDS-PAGE, UPLC and/or Bradford is a plus.
- Prior experience in bioprocess development or biomanufacturing is a nice- to-have.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Practical, hands-on and curious, with problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and organizational skills, with attention to documentation and detail.
Why join
Working as a Vegan Cowboy family member (cheesy but true), means excellent career perspectives in a rapidly growing field, your very own cowboy name (which yes, will be used) and proud ownership of a share in the company through our personnel participation program.
