For one of our clients, we are looking for a Software Asset Management Officer to ensure the reliable, compliant, and cost-efficient management of their IT software licence portfolio. The assignment combines administrative, analytical, and monitoring responsibilities, with close collaboration between IT, Procurement, and Finance. The Software Asset Management Officer will contribute to licence compliance, cost optimisation, accurate reporting, and the continuous improvement of Software Asset Management (SAM) processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Software licence management:
    • Manage the complete lifecycle of IT software licences: request, approval, acquisition, deployment, monitoring, renewal, and retirement.
    • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date overview of active, expired, renewable, and retiring licences.
    • Analyse software contracts, licensing terms, usage rights, and relevant clauses in collaboration with IT, Procurement, and Finance.
    • Ensure accurate administrative and analytical follow-up of SAM activities.
  • Usage analysis & cost optimisation:
    • Analyse software usage data to identify unused, underused, or oversized licences.
    • Identify opportunities to optimise licence allocation and utilisation.
    • Propose concrete actions to reduce software costs and avoid unnecessary renewals or purchases.
    • Support the monitoring and optimisation of software renewals.
  • Reporting & monitoring:
    • Establish and monitor KPIs covering active licences, unused licences, upcoming renewals, compliance risks, and potential savings.
    • Prepare analyses, reports, and dashboards to support management decision-making.
    • Ensure SAM data remains accurate, reliable, and suitable for reporting purposes.
  • Process improvement:
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Software Asset Management processes, controls, and data quality.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve the efficiency and reliability of licence-management activities.

Ideal candidate

The ideal candidate combines solid experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or IT licence management with strong analytical and administrative capabilities. They can work independently, analyse complex licensing and usage data, identify cost-optimisation opportunities, and communicate effectively with stakeholders across IT, Procurement, and Finance.
