Project Manager – Data Center Construction & Operations - Freelance
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our data center team in Mons. You'll oversee construction, fit‑out, or operational projects at the facility - coordinating contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to keep critical infrastructure projects on time, on budget, and to spec.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and manage data center projects from initiation through handover (construction, expansion, upgrades, or equipment installation)
- Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering teams, as well as external contractors and suppliers
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and risk registers; report progress to senior stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, and industry standards (e.g. Uptime Institute Tier standards)
- Liaise with local authorities in Mons/Wallonia for permits and inspections where required
- Manage change requests and resolve on-site issues quickly to minimize downtime risk
- Coordinate commissioning and testing phases for critical infrastructure (power, cooling, networking)
What We're Looking For
- 3–5+ years of project management experience, ideally in data centers, construction, or critical infrastructure
- Strong understanding of MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems is a plus
- PMP, PRINCE2, or similar certification preferred
- Fluent in English; French is a plus
- Comfortable working on-site in Mons and managing multiple contractor teams
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center environments
- Familiarity with local Belgian/Walloon construction permitting processes
- Background in electrical or mechanical engineering
