About ENTSO-E

ENTSO-E is the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity. We coordinate the cross-border system operations, system development and electricity market activities of the 40 electricity transmission system operators (TSOs) which cover 36 countries. The ENTSO-E Secretariat in Brussels provides support on technical, market and policy developments for all European TSOs in their cooperation with each other, in their joint fulfilment of their legal mandates, and in the intensive interactions with EU decision-makers, regulatory agencies, associations representing network users and other stakeholders.

Job description

We are looking for a motivated student with a background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field to join the Internal Services team of the ICT Section of ENTSO-E. The intern will enhance and apply her/his knowledge by contributing to the development and maintenance of full‑stack web applications and supporting DevOps activities, including application deployment, automation, and CI/CD processes.

Preferred starting date is early September 2026, for a duration of 6 months.

Your responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of full‑stack web applications.
  • Support the implementation of new features across frontend and backend systems.
  • Collaborate with software developers and other stakeholders to deliver high‑quality, user‑focused solutions.
  • Participate in debugging, testing, and code reviews while applying software engineering best practices.
  • Gain hands‑on experience with modern web technologies, development tools, DevOps practices, and Agile methodologies.

Specific responsibilities may be finetuned together with the student.

Your profile

We are looking for a motivated professional with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Be a full time student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with at least one modern frontend framework (e.g. React, Angular, or Vue).
  • Basic knowledge of backend development using technologies such as Node.js, Java, Python, C#, or similar.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), and Git version control.
  • Basic understanding of DevOps concepts, such as CI/CD pipelines, containerization (e.g. Docker), or cloud platforms, is an asset.
  • Knowledge of software development principles and object‑oriented programming.
  • Ability to organise own work and establish priorities.

Requirements

  • Set up an internship agreement between the university & ENTSO‑E.
  • Agree on exact length of the internship and schedule (full time or part time).
  • Be eligible to travel and stay in Belgium for the duration of the traineeship.
  • Provide proof of health insurance coverage by university.
  • Excellent command of English (written and oral).
  • Motivation to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.
