Operational Excellence Manager (SRQ112086)

Excited to work on a project for a key Belgian player in the energy landscape? The Belgian and European energy landscape is in full swing. Did you know that the organization plays a crucial role in this? As part of a European transmission system operator, the organization ensures the reliability and sustainability of the electricity supply in our country.

Side-by-side with other Contingent Workers and staff, you will play a part in building a sustainable, green and reliable energy infrastructure that stimulates economic growth and reduces our ecological footprint. Only together can we make the biggest impact possible We believe in the power of diversity: we are convinced that an inclusive and diverse work environment leads to more innovation, creativity and better results.

Our Grid Development (GD) department sets the standard: its grid studies are a recognized reference, and both the organization and society want to leverage this expertise even more. With demand growing fast (more client connection studies, richer development plans, a rapidly electrifying society), it’s time to scale up smartly. That’s where you come in. As Operational Excellence Manager, you will build and lead the GD Center of Excellence and turn our ambition into a structured plan that makes our teams faster, sharper and more satisfied in their work.

What you’ll do:

  • Shape the roadmap: partner with the GD Core Team to turn the strategic roadmap into a structural operational excellence plan, and make it happen.
  • Steer priorities: drive the quarterly planning and reprioritization cycle and coordinate resource planning across GD teams.
  • Make performance visible: define the KPIs, launch a monthly GD dashboard and run the operational dialogue where data turns into actions and decisions.
  • Bring structure to key documents: design a document management system for key GD documents, from a System Planning pilot (end 2027) to a GD-wide roll-out, so decisions are traceable and reporting is transparent.
  • Unlock efficiency: embed a continuous improvement framework that identifies, evaluates and implements improvements in processes, tools and ways of working, and measures their impact on efficiency and quality.
  • Build the Center of Excellence: set up the GD Center of Excellence with shared guidelines, tools and best practices, and align the PMOs within GD to avoid redundancy.
  • Deliver: lead specific GD projects from idea to implementation, and make sure the changes stick.

Requirements:

  • You hold a master’s degree in engineering (civil, commercial, …) or economics, or have equivalent experience;
  • You have 4+ years of experience in operational excellence, including defining KPIs, building dashboards (e.g. Power BI), optimizing processes and managing documents;
  • You have a basic knowledge of the organization and the energy sector;
  • You strive for excellence: you spot improvement opportunities and turn them into results, rigorously and on time;
  • You are a change maker with a service mindset: you engage stakeholders inside and outside GD and help teams succeed rather than pushing your own agenda;
  • You work autonomously and flexibly, set the right priorities, make decisions and communicate clearly with management;
  • You are a hands-on doer with a get-things-done attitude: you roll up your sleeves, turn plans into concrete actions and deliver tangible results, even when not everything is perfectly defined;
  • You are assertive and an excellent communicator, with a good knowledge of English and fluency in French or Dutch (and at least a good understanding of the other).

Additional information:

  • On-site presence: by default, 3 days per week of physical presence on site is required

Important: for non-EU candidates, please present candidates who comply with the following criteria:

  • Possess a work permit allowing the individual to work in Belgium.
  • Hold a valid residence permit confirming the right of residence in Belgium.

What makes this mission attractive?

  • A mission with real impact: at the organization you’ll be at the forefront of the energy transition, in a company that encourages innovation and collaboration. It’s the perfect place to show what you can do and grow your skills.
  • Focus on well-being at work: we put maximum effort into a positive work culture in which your well-being is central.
  • A diverse team of co-workers: the organization puts a high value on diversity and inclusion. You will join a diverse and passionate team that enjoys sharing knowledge and leading the way towards a more sustainable future together.
