Compliance Expert

We’re looking for a Compliance Expert with experience in ESG transparency requirements and compliance investigations to support a financial institution during a temporary replacement. The position focuses on independently assessing regulatory compliance, control effectiveness and the management of compliance risks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a compliance investigation by analysing relevant regulations, internal policies, previous findings and identified risks.
• Help determine the scope and investigation approach.
• Conduct a compliance investigation into ESG transparency obligations.
• Assess whether compliance risks are adequately managed and whether controls are properly designed and operating effectively.
• Collect and analyse evidence through document reviews, file testing, interviews and other investigative procedures.
• Perform risk assessments and evaluate processes, risks and control measures.
• Document procedures, evidence and conclusions in a structured manner, ensuring a complete audit trail.
• Draft the investigation report and formulate clear recommendations and areas for improvement.
• Present and discuss findings with the relevant stakeholders.
• Review management responses and monitor agreed action plans.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the compliance control framework.
• Collaborate closely with Compliance, Legal, Non-Financial Risk Management and business stakeholders.
• Monitor developments in ESG and transparency regulation and translate them into future compliance-monitoring activities.

Profile

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in Compliance, Risk Management, Audit, Internal Control or a comparable control function.
• A master’s degree in law, economics, finance or a related discipline.
• Affinity with ESG, sustainability regulation, consumer protection and transparency obligations in financial services.
• Experience preparing and conducting risk‑based investigations or control assessments.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex regulations and processes into clear conclusions.
• A structured and accurate working style, with close attention to risks and detail.
• Strong reporting skills and the ability to communicate findings convincingly.
• Effective stakeholder‑management skills, including the ability to collaborate constructively and provide independent challenge.
• Fluent in Dutch
