We are working alongside our client in the warehouse and logistics automation sector, based in Lokeren, Belgium, to hire a Team Lead Controls Hardware Engineering.

Who we are

We are a dynamic, globally connected recruitment and executive search agency with a proven track record since 2012. Partnering with leading multinationals, high-growth start-ups, and ambitious SMEs in engineering and automation, we deliver talent solutions that support long-term business success.

The client

Our client develops robotic and automation solutions for warehouse and logistics operations. Its engineering teams turn project requirements into working systems for customers.

The Role

You’ll lead a team of approximately 5–7 controls hardware engineers delivering the electrical hardware side of customer projects. This is a working-manager role: you’ll keep projects on track, guide technical decisions and help your team develop while staying close to the engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of controls hardware engineers.
  • Plan resources and review progress across team members’ projects each week.
  • Guide electrical design using established engineering standards and solutions.
  • Review designs, technical documentation and system integration work.
  • Coordinate with other engineering functions when projects require deviations or more complex solutions.
  • Support on-site I/O testing, commissioning and safety validation when needed.
  • Contribute to recruitment, training and team reporting.

Requirements

  • A controls or electrical engineering background in machine building, machine manufacturing or industrial automation.
  • At least five years of leadership or management experience, including managing engineers while remaining technically involved.
  • Practical knowledge of electrical power systems, wiring, protection, motors and drives, including 230V and 400V systems.
  • Experience with machinery safety and safe machine design.
  • Experience in electrical infrastructure engineering, cabinet calculations, commissioning and technical documentation.
  • Fluency in English and a location in Belgium.
  • EPLAN or comparable CAD experience, cable-calculation experience and Dutch language skills are advantages.

The role is on-site five days a week initially, with one work-from-home day afterward. The package includes a company car, insurance, meal vouchers and 32 days of leave for a full year on a 40-hour workweek.
