Finance Manager (Part‑time, 50 %)

This role sits at the intersection of finance and operations. You will be a trusted business partner to the CEO and management team, close to the numbers, the projects and the people.

Responsibilities

  • Take end‑to‑end responsibility for accounting, financial reporting and core financial processes in collaboration with a small internal team and the external accountant.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets, rolling forecasts and multi‑year financial plans that keep management informed and aligned.
  • Analyse revenue, margins, cash flow and project profitability – translating numbers into actionable management insights.
  • Manage liquidity, working capital and financing structures to ensure financial stability and flexibility.
  • Optimise financial processes within our project‑driven organisation: time registration, cost tracking, invoicing and margin reporting.
  • Coordinate and support tax and VAT filings, ensuring all deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g. Belgian GAAP), tax regulations and reporting obligations.
  • Drive automation and standardisation of recurring financial tasks to free up capacity for higher‑value analysis.
  • Document financial procedures and build a robust internal control framework suited to a scale‑up organisation.
  • Actively participate in the management team as a business partner – bringing data‑driven perspectives to support strategic discussions and operational decisions.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Applied Economic Sciences or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in a finance role, including 6 years in a fully‑fledged management role, with proven responsibility for reporting, budgeting and cash flow management.
  • Experience leading a small finance team.
  • Strategic thinker who sees the big picture and translates it into concrete financial actions and priorities.
  • Experience within a project‑driven environment (engineering, consultancy or technical services) – a requirement.
  • Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting, tax and VAT regulations.
  • Fluent in Dutch; strong working proficiency in English.
  • Proactive, constructive, direct when needed and confident in sharing views with the CEO, management team and stakeholders.
  • Ability to bring structure without creating unnecessary bureaucracy – thrives in dynamic, entrepreneurial environments.
  • Hands‑on mentality with strategic insight – comfortable in detail and at the management table.
  • Handles sensitive financial and business information with integrity and discretion.
  • First experience within a private equity environment is a strong asset.
