The project:

Our client in the Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain and Storage sector, is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to strengthen their team.

Key Responsibilities

Architectural Leadership:

• Design scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions supporting retail operations, customer journeys, and omnichannel services.
• Design a digital customer channel for our B2B and B2C customers (front and back end) through successive MVPs with the ambition to create a group asset
• Help identify optimisations and innovations across initiatives such as self-service harmonisation, remote assistance, and AI-enabled retail experiences.
• Develop architectural standards, design patterns, and governance models aligned with enterprise and retail strategy.

Solution Development & Guidance:

• Support application development teams with high-level solution design and technical direction.
• Review architecture and technical designs to ensure performance, resilience, scalability, and usability in retail environments.
• Advise on trade-offs and architectural decisions throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

Solution Delivery Support:

• Guide development teams during build and implementation phases.
• Support issue resolution and performance tuning across platforms and components.
• Contribute to disaster recovery, high availability, and security architecture planning.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

• Work closely with business, product, and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into architectural solutions.
• Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to integrate CI/CD practices and infrastructure automation.
• Facilitate architecture reviews, design workshops, and cross-functional discussions.

Innovation & Best Practices:

• Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their relevance to enterprise goals.
• Champion the adoption of modern architecture practices including microservices, API-first design, and cloud-native principles.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, mentorship, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Is this you?

Experience:

• 5+ years in software architecture/design.
• Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-grade systems, preferably in retail, logistics, or customer-facing environments.
• Experience in Customer data, CRM, CIAM, pricing & promotions.
• Experience in retail applications: tablet, kiosk, and network setup.
• Hands-on expertise in Mobile & Web front-end technologies, Java, Android or Node.js architectures.
• Background in systems integration, POS platforms, identity, payments, or modern application development.

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation tools.
• Experience with API-driven design, microservices, and event-driven or service-oriented architecture (SOA).
• Familiarity with DevOps pipelines, monitoring, and performance optimization in strategies.
• Solid grasp of architectural concerns such as scalability, fault tolerance, security, compliance, and device integration.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Demonstrated leadership in guiding teams, mentoring engineers, and influencing technical direction.

Preferred Skills:

• Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or TOGAF.
• Experience working in Agile or SAFe environments.
• Experience in digital transformation, legacy modernization, or retail platform evolution.
• Industry experience in logistics, postal services, or retail networks.
