Salary:The monthly salary for this full-time position is 4,400 EUR, subject to national taxes and social insurance.

The EUISS has been entrusted to implement the ‘Security Coordination and Programme Enhancement’ project under the ‘EU Global Threats Programme (GTp)’ of the ‘EU Neighbourhood Development and International Cooperation Instrument’ which is financed from funds of the EU budget. The project has a global geographical scope and covers several thematic priorities: counterterrorism and prevention of violent extremism, mitigating CBRN threats, combating organised crime, addressing critical infrastructure threats as well as threats related to effects of climate change.

The project focuses on five output areas: (1) monitoring of programme actions and impact paired with recommendation of corrective measures, (2) ensuring coherence and coordination of programme components and with other linked initiatives, (3) identifying areas for development through context expert analysis, (4) providing technical expertadvice to ensure quality and standards, (5) supporting programme visibility within EU as well as partner countries and organisations.

The EUISS seeks to hire an experienced and proactive Communications Coordinator to lead and support communication activities for SCOPE. Reporting to the SCOPE Team Leader, the successful candidate will work closely with the core SCOPE team, the European Commission, partner organisations, and the Institute’s broader communication team to enhance the visibility and impact of the GTp.

Main responsibilities

  • Coordinate the implementation of the Global Threats Programme (GTp) communication strategy and monitor impact;
  • Support all SCOPE and GTp related communication activities through the website, social media, and other channels;
  • Manage the GTp website and social media presence (including content creation/update and metrics monitoring);
  • Develop multimedia content such as social media visuals and videos to enhance audience engagement;
  • Enhance the visibility of the GTp by building links between relevant stakeholders;
  • Oversee the production and delivery of communication materials, such as brochures, factsheets, reports, press releases and visuals;
  • Provide hands-on support for flagship events and campaigns, coordinating logistics and service providers;
  • Maintain templates and guidelines to ensure visibility compliance across SCOPE and GTp outputs;
  • Contribute to the Institute’s broader communication activities as needed.

Eligibility criteria:

On the closing date for applications, candidates must fulfil all the following conditions:

  • Be a national of a member state of the European Union;
  • Enjoy full rights as a citizen to be attested at the moment of recruitment by a recent extract from a judicial record and/or certificate of good conduct;
  • Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by national law on military service;
  • Be physically fit to perform the required duties.

Selection criteria:

  • A university degree (BA/MA) in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, or other disciplines relevant to this position;
  • At least 3 years of proven work experience of online/offline communication, including the management of websites;
  • Proven work experience in EU-funded projects, including a good knowledge of related communication requirements; experience in the domain of EU foreign policy or any of the GTp threat areas will be considered as an asset;
  • Proven experience in the implementation of communication campaigns; experience in dealing with the press, video production, graphic design and/or event coordination will be an asset;
  • Strong digital and social media communication skills;
  • Experience with using EWPP, CIRCABC, Photoshop and PowerBI will be considered a distinct advantage;
  • Excellent storytelling and content writing skills with the ability to adapt messages across different audiences and for different channels;
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to deliver quality results within tight deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment as a team member;
  • High professional values and standards characterised by proactiveness, diligence, integrity and confidentiality;
  • Minimum level of C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
