Frontend Developer Angular — Design System

What you will do

You will work as part of a three-person development team on a strategic design system library used by public administrations across French-speaking Belgium. The library serves dozens of business applications supporting thousands of users in education, justice, culture, sport and other domains.

The project has two main objectives: migrating the design system to Angular 22 and replacing third-party UI components with native, accessible implementations built on HTML5 semantics and Angular CDK primitives. The target architecture, development standards, components to migrate and migration priorities have already been defined.

Working closely with a team leader, frontend architect, UX/UI team (Figma design tokens) and application teams, you will be directly responsible for component development, the Angular 22 upgrade, test coverage and compliance with accessibility and performance standards.

Conception

• Participate in updating technical and software architecture documentation
• Develop technical design and analysis based on functional specifications, migration requirements and UI mockups
• Apply and enforce development best practices: clean code, SOLID principles, DRY, accessibility and maintainability

Development

• Collaborate within the three-developer team on different migration workstreams
• Perform the design system upgrade to Angular 22 and adapt existing components
• Develop and rewrite application components in semantic HTML and Angular CDK to replace third-party dependencies (presentational components, overlays/navigation, reactive form controls, data tables)
• Optimise code and rendering performance (response time, memory management, OnPush lifecycle)
• Organise refactoring by simplifying existing code and removing obsolete dependencies
• Participate actively in cross-team code reviews
• Develop and validate unit tests (Vitest) in a zoneless environment to ensure non-regression and high coverage
• Perform corrective and evolutionary maintenance of components

Deployment

• Validate deployment and delivery of the solution (packaging with ng-packagr under Bun, library publication)
• Ensure proper behaviour of the library in the showcase application and in consumer application runtime environments

Quality

• Ensure development quality in line with organisational standards and SonarQube rules
• Guarantee compliance with digital accessibility criteria (WCAG 2.1 level AA)
• Ensure adherence to deadlines and delivery milestones
• Adopt best practices for reducing technical debt (clean code, version upgrades, removal of external dependencies)

Communication

• Communicate regularly with project stakeholders (team leader, architect, UX/UI team) and provide transparent feedback on assigned activities
• Assist the team leader in qualifying, estimating and breaking down work packages in the agile tracking tool

• TypeScript: confirmed level, most recent experience within the last three years
• HTML5 semantics and modern web APIs: confirmed level, most recent experience within the last three years
• Component architecture and design systems: confirmed level, most recent experience within the last three years
• Unit testing (Vitest / JSDOM / zoneless mode testing): confirmed level, most recent experience within the last three years
• Clean code and SOLID principles: confirmed level, most recent experience within the last three years
• Web accessibility: confirmed level, most recent experience this year
• Agile Scrum: confirmed level, most recent experience within the last three years
• Native-level French

The setting

This assignment runs from 1 October 2026 to 31 December 2026 (three months). The role is hybrid, with a mandatory minimum of 50% on-site presence in Brussels. The mission is conducted exclusively in French.
