Senior Business Analyst - Freelance - Brussels Region
For a leading client in the banking industry, we are looking for an experienced Freelance Senior Business Analyst to support business and IT initiatives within the insurance domain.
The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, solution architects, developers, testers, and project managers to analyze business requirements and translate them into clear, actionable functional specifications.
The role requires a strong business analysis background, the ability to understand complex business processes, and experience working in a structured financial services environment. The consultant will contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and impact analysis to testing, implementation, and business validation.
Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, challenge, and document business requirements through workshops, interviews, and working sessions with business stakeholders.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications, business rules, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Analyze existing business processes and identify gaps, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assess the impact of requested changes on existing applications, interfaces, data flows, and operational processes.
- Act as the interface between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams, ensuring a shared understanding of requirements and expected outcomes.
- Facilitate discussions between business experts, developers, architects, testers, and other project stakeholders.
Profile
- At least 5-8 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in insurance or financial services.
- Demonstrable experience in business requirements analysis and functional analysis.
- Good understanding of insurance processes, such as policy administration, underwriting, claims management, contract lifecycle, or insurance distribution.
- Experience working on business-driven IT projects involving multiple stakeholders and application dependencies.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear and structured functional documentation.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum and/or traditional project delivery methodologies.
- Practical experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, BPMN tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of application interfaces, data flows, system integrations, and functional testing.
- Strong communication, facilitation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and take ownership of assigned deliverables.
