Business Development Director, Comparator Sourcing

Remote, Europe | 40% travel | Competitive base + bonus structure

A fast-growing European pharmaceutical wholesaler is hiring a senior Business Development Manager for its international comparator division. The business already trades seven-figure volumes in comparator medicines every month. Now it needs someone to take that to more customers and more markets.

This is not a build-from-scratch role. You'll join a business with real volume, its own licences and an in-house quality and regulatory team, so you can sell from day one rather than spending your first year putting the basics in place.

What's in it for you

  • Capital behind your deals. A few million euros of working capital is set aside for comparator growth, so the business is ready to back the opportunities you bring in.
  • Time spent selling. Quotations, project management, logistics, quality and regulatory sit with internal teams. Your focus is winning customers and building supplier relationships.
  • A growth story. Group revenue has grown roughly fivefold in three years, and the comparator division is newly formed. You'll shape how it grows
  • Senior visibility. You'll work directly with the people running the business, with real influence on commercial strategy.
  • Flexibility. Remote anywhere in Europe, with a package pitched above market for the right person.

What you'll do

You'll open and convert new pharma, biotech, CRO and CDMO customers, generate RFQs and take them through to purchase order. On the supply side, you'll expand a network of wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers across Europe, and find alternative sources for constrained products. You'll negotiate contracts and framework agreements, represent the business at events such as CPHI and GCSG, and build recurring business through preferred-supplier status and master service agreements.

Who you might be

You've spent around 10–15 years in pharma, with hands-on comparator sourcing and clinical trial supply experience at the core. You might currently be:

  • In business development or key account management at a comparator sourcing specialist, ready for a bigger role in a business where your results are visible.
  • In a commercial role at a clinical trial supply or packaging organisation, where comparator sourcing has been part of what you sell.
  • At a specialist wholesaler or parallel trade business with a comparator or clinical trial arm.
  • In comparator procurement or clinical supply at a sponsor, CRO or CDMO, with a commercial track record and an appetite for a business development role.

You understand batch and expiry requirements, country-specific presentations, GDP and cold chain, and the documentation sponsors expect. Most importantly, you have a live network on both sides of the trade, with clinical supply and procurement decision-makers on one side and wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers on the other. You can point to business that network has generated.
