STS Internship Program, Belgium

The Strategic Student Program’s STS Internship Program provides real-world engineering experience to students with an interest in simulation software, testing systems, and customer applications.

Project domains may include

  • System dynamics, Structural integrity, Flow and thermal analysis, Control systems, Reliability, Acoustics, and Energy efficiency

Interns receive the opportunity to contribute to innovation projects and gain practical experience using advanced simulation and testing technologies.

Upon completion of the internship, participants join the Siemens Software Early Careers network, increasing their visibility for future global graduate and associate-level opportunities.

2026B Registration Period

2026B registration cycle runs from August 2026 through April 2027.

During this period, Siemens Digital Industries Software will review registered profiles and match suitable candidates with internship projects as opportunities become available.

Candidates may be contacted at any point during the registration period if their academic background, skills, interests, and availability align with an available project.

Internship Starting Cycles

  • Late August to early October
  • Late February to early April

Internship Modalities

  • Industrial internship: 3–6 months
  • Master’s thesis research project: 6–9 months
  • Summer internship: 1–3 months

The exact duration and format depend on the academic requirements of the student, the university agreement, and the needs of the assigned project.

Typical Candidate Profiles

Candidates typically come from Master’s programs in areas such as: Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Physics, and Mathematics

Applicant Requirements

  • Be enrolled in a Master’s program at an EU university throughout the internship period
  • Be a Belgian or EU/EEA national, or already hold a valid Belgian international student residence permit
  • Have a strong command of written and spoken English
  • Demonstrate an interest in simulation technologies, particularly Siemens Simcenter
  • Complete Siemens’ standard background check for export-control compliance
  • Include a motivation letter as a page within the CV
  • Upload the CV and motivation letter in PDF

Internship Agreement

Siemens Software normally issues its own internship agreement. The agreement must be reviewed and approved by the intern’s university before the internship can begin.

An exception applies to KU Leuven, which uses its own agreement process due to the formal cooperation agreement established between Siemens Software and the university.

Eligibility and Permit Requirements for Belgium

  • Belgian nationals
  • EU/EEA nationals
  • International students who already hold a valid Belgian international student residence permit

International students holding a residence permit issued by another EU or EEA country are not eligible unless they also hold the appropriate Belgian authorization.

A residence permit issued by another EU or EEA country does not automatically grant the right to undertake an internship in Belgium.

Due to administrative constraints, Siemens Software cannot provide support for obtaining or converting a Belgian residence permit for the purpose of this internship.

Compensation & Internship Arrangements

Internship arrangements in Belgium are structured in accordance with local legal and market practices and are communicated transparently in line with Siemens’ pay-transparency principles and applicable European requirements.
