Lead Automation Engineer

Your Role

As Lead Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of advanced robotic automation solutions for our customers worldwide.

Combining strong technical expertise in industrial automation, robotics and control systems with proven leadership capabilities, you will guide and develop a team of Automation Engineers while acting as the technical reference for complex automation integration projects.

You will be responsible for coordinating engineering activities, ensuring technical excellence and supporting the successful delivery of highly customized robotic solutions, from design phase through commissioning and customer acceptance.

Working closely with Project Managers, Mechanical Engineering, R&D, Quality, Purchasing, Workshop and Operations teams, you will contribute to innovation, define engineering standards and continuously improve our solutions based on customer feedback and field experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to a group of engineers to drive project activities and define engineering technical tasks.
  • Define design solutions to support products development, benchmarking on market technologies and definitions of standards
  • Ensure good exchange between other technical departments as project management, mechanical engineering, R&D department, purchase department, quality assurance, workshop department and operations to ensure the delivery of automation equipment’s
  • Provide automation expertise for Electrical, Instrumentation, Control command, Robotics technologies to develop, coach and mentor the automation engineers.
  • Follow-up progress on technical project tasks and distribute workload among Automation engineers. Manage planning & resources to ensure deliverables are reached in time
  • Evaluate skills and expertise of the team in order to assess team and personal development plans in term of technical and soft skills.
  • Report progress proactively to the Project Manager and customers. Administrate the work.
  • Coordinate technical issues or products continuous improvement opportunities to the relevant Product Manager. Follow-up and drive actions in order to keep a momentum in the Product development based on feedbacks from the field engineering teams and customers.
  • Consolidate and share Design Rules, Procedures, Standards and Best practices across the team.
  • Follow-up KPI’s and keeping them on track. Take necessary actions if needed.

Your Profile

You are an experienced automation professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with people leadership. You are comfortable working hands-on with engineering teams while taking ownership of technical decisions and team development.

Knowledge, experience and skills needed

  • Master’s degree in Automation, Robotics and Mechatronic Engineering.
  • min 5 years of experience in robotics and mechatronics, system integration projects
  • People management experience, Team leader experience developing highly engaged team

SPECIFIC TOOLS/ TECHNOLOGIES REQUIRED

  • PLC Hardware & Software (Siemens S7 / TIA), HMI Programming (TIA)
  • Process simulation
  • Good knowledge in Automation Field instrumentation : Electrical, Sensors, actuators, IO checks
  • Driving projects and knowledge of useful tools as MS project / Planning / FMEA - Risk Analysis / Priorities classifications
  • Basic knowledge in Mechanics, Hydraulics & Pneumatics Design. Understanding functionalities and operations.
  • Good knowledge in Machine, Process and People safety :Machine directives (2006/42/CE), Robot safety, Safety functions.
  • Ability to implement efficient methodologies for automatic function development

  • Leadership skills and motivational skills to manage team of engineers and experts involved in large scale and high technology projects.
