Arcem is hiring a senior power and grid connections professional

Arcem is a developer of data centre and digital infrastructure, founded by experienced Nordic real estate developers. We develop projects in the Nordics and are now expanding into further European markets.

We bring land, power and permits together to create projects that can be built and scaled, working with customers and partners to take them through to delivery. We take a long-term view, focused on meeting customer needs, using grid capacity efficiently and creating lasting value for the communities that host our projects.

We are looking for an experienced power and grid professional to lead how we assess, develop and progress our grid connections. Working closely with management and project teams, you will directly influence which projects we pursue and how we deliver them.

The role

You will own the power and grid connection work across our projects. The role combines the assessment of new opportunities with practical project development and engagement with transmission and distribution system operators. You will report to the CEO and work with local advisers and technical partners.

Your main responsibilities

  • Track grid investment plans, new generation and major demand projects, and use these insights to identify attractive regions and development opportunities.
  • Lead technical and commercial due diligence on power and grid positions, assessing documented capacity, conditions, dependencies, costs and realistic connection dates.
  • Develop connection strategies, demand requirements, load profiles and phased capacity plans, and prepare and progress connection applications and technical documentation.
  • Lead engagement with grid operators through feasibility studies, planning and connection agreements, tracking milestones, deadlines and project obligations.
  • Develop and review connection concepts for high-voltage networks, substations and overhead line or cable connections.
  • Assess security of supply, redundancy and flexible connection options against customer needs and grid requirements.
  • Commission and review network studies and detailed engineering, coordinating advisers and grid work with permitting, customer requirements and project economics.

Your background

You have a relevant degree in electrical power engineering or equivalent, and substantial experience in high-voltage networks and major grid connections. Your background may be with a TSO, DSO, engineering consultancy, data centre developer or energy-intensive industrial business.

  • You have personally led complex connection or network development projects and can demonstrate specific deliverables.
  • You understand power systems and the technical and commercial implications for a large electricity consumer.
  • You have worked across markets, or can demonstrate the ability to deliver projects internationally with local specialists.
  • You communicate fluently in English. Nordic market experience is an advantage; Norwegian is not required.

What we offer

A central role with direct access to decision-makers, substantial technical influence and tangible development projects. You will have the opportunity to build Arcem’s power and grid capability and work with technical partners across Europe. We envisage competitive terms reflecting your experience and responsibilities.

Practical information

Location will be agreed with the right candidate. The role involves regular travel to projects, grid operators and partners across Europe.
