Freelance Full Stack Engineer

Mediahuis is looking for a Freelance Full Stack Engineer to help design and build a central product service within our B2B technology environment. You'll combine your expertise in software development, system integration and solution architecture to create a scalable foundation for managing and distributing product information across different applications.

As a Full Stack Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing a central Product Service that makes product information from our booking system available to other applications in a standardized and reliable way. You'll help shape the technical architecture, build the necessary integrations and establish a solid foundation for automated testing, working closely with our internal technology teams.

Your role includes.

• Designing and developing a central product database to consolidate and structure product information from our existing booking system.
• Building integrations between the source system and the product database, ensuring reliable and consistent data exchange.
• Developing an API layer that makes standardized product information available to other applications, including a new Quote Management System.
• Contributing to the solution architecture, translating functional requirements into a scalable and maintainable technical design.
• Implementing an automated testing approach to safeguard the quality, reliability and maintainability of the solution.
• Taking a hands‑on role in development, combining technical design with the actual implementation of the solution.
• Collaborating closely with internal engineers and stakeholders to align technical decisions and ensure successful delivery.

This is a freelance assignment until the end of December 2026 (extension possible), with a start as soon as possible. You can work from either Belgium or the Netherlands.

What makes you a great fit?

What's on your CV, is important but is by no means the only thing we attach importance to. You're an experienced Full Stack Engineer with a strong background in backend development, databases, API development and system integrations. You're comfortable contributing to solution architecture while remaining actively involved in hands‑on development. You understand how to design scalable and maintainable services, integrate data from existing systems and establish effective automated testing practices. You are analytical, pragmatic and able to work independently while collaborating closely with internal engineering teams. You take ownership of technical challenges and translate architectural concepts into working solutions. Professional proficiency in English is sufficient; knowledge of Dutch is not required.

Experience with product data management, centralized data services or quote management solutions is considered an asset.

The team is currently building a central Product Service to make product information from our booking system available to multiple applications through a standardized data and API architecture. You'll work closely with internal colleagues and contribute to a solution that will support future B2B processes and applications, including a new Quote Management System. The assignment offers the opportunity to combine architectural input with hands‑on engineering in an international technology environment.
