Organizational context: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN's lead agency for international development, working in 170 countries to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality. The Brussels Representation Office focuses on partnerships with the EU, Belgium, and Luxembourg, supporting sustainable development, governance, resilience, and crisis response initiatives, particularly in Africa. This internship is anchored in this engagement, offering practical experience in partnership development and management.

Job purpose: This internship supports the UNDP Representation Office in Brussels and the Regional Bureau for Africa (RBA) by strengthening partnerships with the European Union, Belgium, and Luxembourg. The intern will contribute to initiatives focused on sustainable development, governance, resilience, and crisis response across Africa. The role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in developing and managing strategic partnerships to mobilize resources, influence policy, and support program delivery within one of UNDP's largest regional portfolios. The intern will gain exposure to UNDP's mission, the UN System, and the intricacies of international partnerships and communications.



Responsibilities:
The intern will provide support to the Partnerships team, focusing on four key areas. First, pipeline follow-up, which involves tracking EU-funded partnership opportunities, maintaining pipeline trackers, consolidating updates, and preparing status overviews. Second, support to verifications, including providing administrative assistance for project verification and audit exercises, maintaining verification trackers, and preparing background notes. Third, mission support for the Regional Bureau for Africa in Brussels, assisting with logistical and substantive preparation for missions, including scheduling, preparing briefing materials, and taking meeting notes. Fourth, knowledge management and coordination support, involving updating briefing materials, identifying communication opportunities for partnership results, and monitoring relevant institutional websites for Africa-related updates.



Education:
Applicants must be enrolled in the final year of a first university degree (e.g., Bachelor's) or a postgraduate degree program (e.g., Master's) in International Relations, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field. Recent graduates who completed their degree within the last year are also eligible. Enrollment in a postgraduate professional traineeship program is also acceptable.

Work

experience:
Proficiency in standard computer software applications, including MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), is required. Fluency in written and spoken English and French is essential. Knowledge of another UN official language is considered an asset.
