Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPIST role based at ACE of Brussels International School in Brussels. The therapist will assess, diagnose, and treat students with speech, language, and communication needs across a wide age range, from early years to secondary.

Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting individual and small-group therapy sessions, developing and implementing evidence-based intervention plans, and monitoring progress through regular documentation and review. The role involves collaborating closely with teachers, support staff, and families to integrate therapy goals into classroom practice and home support. The therapist will also contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, provide staff training on communication strategies, and support the school's inclusive approach to learning and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in Speech Therapy and assessment of Speech difficulties.
• Experience working with Communication Disorders and Language Disorders in children and adolescents.
• Knowledge and clinical skills related to Dysphagia management and safe swallowing practices (if applicable in school settings).
• Recognized qualification in Speech and Language Therapy (e.g., master’s degree or equivalent) and eligibility for registration/licensure in the relevant professional body.
• Experience in educational or pediatric settings, preferably within international or multilingual schools.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Comfort working with culturally and linguistically diverse students; additional languages beyond English are an asset.
• Commitment to inclusive education, safeguarding, and continuous professional development.

The successful candidate must be a qualified speech therapist, have a caring and sympathetic nature when dealing with children, parents and staff, bucket loads of patience, gentle but firm diplomatic skills and a well developed sense of fun.
