An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Systems Engineer to join a growing European space technology organisation developing advanced spacecraft technologies for demanding commercial and institutional missions.
This is a key technical position with responsibility for the overall system baseline, working across mechanical, electronics, software and control disciplines. You will play a leading role in defining system requirements, managing technical budgets and interfaces, driving design trade-offs and ensuring the product is developed in line with applicable space standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the technical baseline, including system requirements, mass, power, thermal and performance budgets, trade-offs and verification.
- Maintain full requirement-to-verification traceability and manage system interfaces and ICDs.
- Lead system-level design activities across mechanical, electronics, software and control engineering disciplines.
- Make technical decisions where different engineering disciplines have competing requirements or constraints.
- Work closely with Project Management and Product Assurance to ensure technical requirements are delivered alongside programme, cost and quality objectives.
- Collaborate with industrialisation and production teams to ensure designs are suitable for repeatable manufacture.
- Ensure system designs meet relevant ECSS standards and customer qualification requirements.
- Maintain consistency of the product technical baseline across multiple programmes and development activities.
- Mentor junior Systems Engineers and contribute to the development of the wider engineering team.
About You
You will have strong experience in systems engineering within the space, aerospace or another highly regulated engineering environment, with a proven ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines. Experience with spacecraft systems, requirements management, verification and ECSS standards would be highly beneficial.
You should be comfortable taking technical ownership, making engineering decisions and communicating effectively with engineers, project managers, product assurance and other stakeholders.
