We are looking for an Expert in AI/NLP/ML for an EU Institution in Brussels (50% onsite). DESCRIPTION OF THE TASKS • Development, maintenance, and optimization of software solutions in the fields of NLP, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence; • Design, training, and optimization of machine learning and deep learning models using structured and unstructured data; • Feature selection, classifier building, and performance optimization using state-of-the-art ML techniques; • Improvement, evaluation, and long-term monitoring of machine translation (MT) quality across multiple language pairs; • Data mining, data analysis, and implementation of automated anomaly detection and performance monitoring systems; • Data processing, cleansing, validation, and integrity checks to ensure high-quality data; • Definition and implementation of data rules, controls, and quality standards in collaboration with data stewards and IT stakeholders; • Design and analysis of IT and data architectures, including master- and metadata management concepts; • Contribution to data management strategies, policies, and related IT requirements; • Provision of expert technical advice, studies, and evaluations related to AI, advanced analytics, and data warehouse technologies; • Development and maintenance of BI and reporting solutions aligned with reference architectures and business requirements; • Support to advanced analytics teams and assistance in resolving production and operational issues when required. REQUIREMENTS • Strong expertise in NLP, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, including development and training of models using structured and unstructured data; • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, Perl, R, Matlab, SQL and Bash, with hands-on experience in NLP/ML libraries and frameworks; • Solid knowledge of machine learning algorithms, applied statistics, data mining techniques and AI frameworks; • Experience with data management, data quality, data governance, and working with large-scale datasets, data lakes and non-structured databases; • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure), Linux/Unix environments, and Big Data technologies; • Experience with databases and query languages (Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL, NoSQL); • Knowledge of machine translation quality evaluation, NLP system lifecycles, and agile software development methodologies; • Familiarity with data visualization tools and BI/reporting solutions; • Strong analytical, data-driven and problem-solving mindset with attention to quality and performance; • Excellent communication skills, ability to work autonomously and in teams, and capacity to produce clear technical documentation; • Fluent in English CERTIFICATIONS & STANDARDS (Optional): • AWS Certified Machine Learning • Microsoft Azure AI Engineer Associate • SAS Certified Professional AI and Machine Learning Certification EU citizenship is required for security clearance.
