Job Description – Senior Cost Manager (Civil/Structural/Architectural) Overview The Senior Cost Manager role offers an opportunity to lead commercial and cost management activities on large-scale, complex construction projects. The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, accurate, and timely cost information that supports project decision-making and ensures value for money. The position provides significant professional growth, exposure to diverse project types, and the ability to take ownership of key commercial responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Prepare estimates, cost plans, and budgets for civil, structural, and architectural works. Analyse tenders and procurement packages to ensure best value and market rates. Optimise project costs and implement value engineering while maintaining high standards and quality. Provide commercial and contractual support throughout the project lifecycle. Monitor project expenditure, perform interim valuations, and manage contractor payments. Forecast and monitor cash flow and accruals, liaising with financial stakeholders. Assist in the preparation and agreement of final accounts, including the assessment of claims. Ensure accurate and timely delivery of all cost outputs. Produce cost analysis and lessons learned for continuous improvement. Support pre- and post-contract cost management activities on varied projects. Skills and Experience Significant experience in civil, structural, and architectural estimating and cost management. Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience managing cost on complex, large-scale construction projects. Strong understanding of pre- and post-contract cost management practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build strong working relationships with teams and clients. Experience in project types such as industrial, high-tech, or technically complex facilities is advantageous but not essential.
