Software Engineer – Advanced Sensor Technology & Autonomous Systems (Hybrid, Hasselt) Location: Hasselt, Belgium (2–3 days on site per week) Employment Type: Full-time Sector: Advanced Sensing, Signal Intelligence, Autonomous Sensor Networks About the Company Our client is a fast-growing Belgian technology company developing advanced sensor networks and autonomous detection systems used across aerospace, security, and critical infrastructure sectors. Their technology integrates real-time sensing, tracking, and analytics capabilities to support mission-critical operations and enhance situational awareness in high-security environments. With all R&D and production based in Belgium, the company builds intelligent, scalable, and resilient systems designed for reliability, strategic autonomy, and real-world performance. Role Overview: We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the core development team responsible for building the software that powers next-generation sensing, tracking, and signal intelligence systems. You will work across the stack and collaborate closely with hardware, AI, and signal processing specialists to deliver robust, high-performance solutions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced scale-up environment, enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, and wants to contribute to meaningful technology with real-world impact. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain core software for real-time sensing, data processing, and tracking applications Build tools and services that integrate hardware components (SDRs, FPGAs, sensors) with AI-driven analytics Work closely with signal processing and AI engineers to deploy algorithms efficiently Contribute to the design and optimisation of internal APIs, microservices, and data pipelines Work across multiple system layers—from command-line interfaces to backend dashboards Improve system performance and reliability through testing, debugging, and code quality best practices Required Skills & Experience: Strong programming skills in Python or C++ Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, networking, I/O) Comfortable working in Linux environments with Git and CI/CD workflows Curious, pragmatic problem-solver with the ability to tackle real-world engineering challenges Strong communication skills and the willingness to collaborate and ask questions Experience working with low-level hardware such as SDRs, FPGAs, or embedded devices is a plus (not required) What’s on Offer: The opportunity to contribute to one of Europe’s most innovative sensor technology environments Meaningful work that supports mission-critical and high-security applications A collaborative, low-ego, high-trust team culture Hybrid working model with flexibility where it matters Competitive salary package and clear growth path If you're interested or think this may be for you, please apply directly.
