**The role**

You join the Optimisation Algorithm Development team of Centrica Energy as a Quantitative Developer

Your team is focused on optimizing performance and revenue of portfolios of flexible assets in a variety of energy markets.

Together with the team you deliver projects from inception (market analysis and strategy simulation) through implementation until production and operational follow-up.

As a Quantitative Developer, you'll focus on developing and implementing algorithmic trading strategies. Your daily tasks include:

- Clearly communicating your findings and analysis to the team, contributing to collaborative strategy development and adjustments.
- Follow-up how the trading strategies from our team and work operationally and collaborate with traders to improve them

**About you**

Prior experience with algorithmic trading in the energy sector is preferred but not mandatory.

- You feel at ease with concepts like distribution and probabilities
- You are capable of reasoning about computation complexity of algorithms
- You know how to quantify and back test performance of algorithms

"_Developer_":

- You have experience with writing production ready code in a professional setting. Preferably in Python, but other languages can be considered as well.
- You have experience with basic tools and concepts like Git, MySQL and Unit Tests
- You have experience with Numpy, Scipy, Tensorflow, Docker, Kubernetes and Scala or are motivated to learn these

"_Develop software to solve complex challenges_ ":

- You know how to translate problems "from the real world" to a software solution
- You know that writing software is not the goal, but just a tool towards enabling a business-goal
- You feel at ease while talking to business experts to gain more knowledge about the context

"_In the energy sector_":

- You care about the environment and the impact that we have on it.
- You are motivated to enable a transition towards a higher share of renewables in the energy mix.

"_Pragmatic_":

- You don't get lost in details and keep your focus on the end goal
- Even though you are familiar with state of the art algorithms, you also know when simple solutions are sufficient
