The Permanent Representation of Ireland to the European Union is seeking to recruit a Housekeeper for the Official Accommodation of the Ambassador. This is a full time position and will start as soon as possible.
**Roles and Responsibilities**:
The precise range of duties will vary over time, but will include the following:
- Ensuring that the Official Accommodation of the Ambassador of Ireland is maintained in a representative state;
- Full range of cleaning tasks and laundry for the Official Accommodation;
- Care and management of all state assets in the Official Accommodation, including representational crystal, silver, china, linen and other items;
- Maintenance and upkeep of the Official Accommodation inventory;
- Liaising with the Ambassador and Personal Assistant to provide functions and receptions at the Official Accommodation, including logístical set up for official events and post event tidy up;
- Service at official events at the Official Accommodation;
- Supervision of the Official Accommodation premises;
- Liaison with the Permanent Representation’s Facilities Manager to regarding any maintenance issues arising and with regard to contractors and suppliers at the Official Accommodation;
- Other duties as required from time to time and directed by the Ambassador, as necessary.
- 3 years’ minimum experience working in housekeeping;
- Fluency in English;
- High degree of integrity and trust;
- Reliable and can work on own initiative;
- Attention to detail;
- Strong organisational and management skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and
- **Able to act with discretion at all times;**:
- **All applicants must have a legal right to reside and work in Belgium.**
**Desirable Requirements**
- Experience working for a Diplomatic Mission / Embassy or international organisation; and
- Fluency in French.
**Terms and conditions of employment**:
- Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week;
- The position will require regular out of hours work in the evening/at weekend, and will be agreed in advance.
- There is no entitlement to civil service status within the Irish public service.

**Selection Process**:
- A skills and language test may form part of the interview process;
- A second round interview may form part of the interview process; and
- It is planned that interviews will be held in June.

**Security Clearance for Local Staff**
Police security clearance will be sought in respect of individuals who come under consideration for appointment. Enquiries may also be made with the police force of any country in which the applicant under consideration for appointment resided. If unsuccessful, this information will be destroyed. If the applicant subsequently comes under consideration for another position, they will be required to supply this information again.
