Umicore is een wereldspeler in materiaaltechnologie. Een stabiele internationale groep en tegelijkertijd een op en top Belgisch bedrijf met vier vestigingen in ons land. Wij ontwikkelen technologieën en produceren materialen voor hoogwaardige zonnecellen gebruikt in satellieten, herlaadbare batterijen, led-toepassingen, katalysatoren...Via recyclage halen we kostbare metalen uit onder meer laptops en gsm's.
**Over Onderzoek & Ontwikkeling**
Vooruitgang stimuleren door onderzoek. Om materiaaloplossingen te ontwikkelen voor de meest dringende uitdagingen ter wereld en te anticiperen op de noden van onze klanten, investeren we veel in O&O. Het onderzoek van Umicore richt zich vooral op nieuwe materialen en processen om een antwoord te bieden aan megatrends zoals grondstoffenschaarste en schone mobiliteit. Aan onderzoek en ontwikkeling doen betekent per definitie dat we niet mogen stilstaan. We moeten nieuwe methoden ontdekken, nieuwe oplossingen bedenken en nieuwe ideeën ontwikkelen. **Wat jij zal doen**
Je leidt een operationeel team van analytische experts met focus op people management en ontwikkeling, veiligheid, operationele efficiëntie en analytische resultaten van hoge kwaliteit Je bouwt aan en past internationaal gerespecteerde expertise toe binnen meerdere analytische kerncompetenties, met een focus op materiaal
- en poederkarakterisatie Samen met het team van het Analytical Competence Center (ACC) in **Olen** voer je analytische projecten uit en volg je analytisch werk op in het kader van het expertisedomein materiaal
- en poederkarakterisatie.
Gedetailleerde verantwoordelijkheden:
- Je geeft leiding aan een operationeel team van analytische experts met focus op de ontwikkeling van mensen, operationele efficiëntie en kwalitatief hoogstaand analytisch werk
- Je ontwikkelt en onderhoudt internationaal erkende expertkennis binnen het domein van materiaal
- en poederkarakterisatie en je definieert strategische prioriteiten om competenties in dit kennisdomein en aangrenzende analytische domeinen te ontwikkelen
- Je volgt interne en externe ontwikkelingen in je expertisedomein op
- Je screent de markt en importeert nieuwe technieken en apparatuur
- Je zorgt voor een technologische prognose op globaal Umicore-niveau voor de toekomstige behoeften aan analytische instrumenten en moedigt het wereldwijde analytische netwerk binnen Umicore aan
- Je stelt een portefeuille van analytische projecten voor, legt ze uit, plant ze, rondt ze af, bepaalt de prioriteiten en volgt ze op in het kader van de ontwikkeling van analytische competenties. Je bepaalt de projectstrategie.
- Je stemt de analytische behoeften af met de interne klanten en waarborgt nauwkeurige vertrouwelijkheidsrichtlijnen
- Je bent de belangrijkste contactpersoon voor interne klanten
- Je toont leiderschapsgedrag inzake veiligheid, implementeert en controleert veiligheidsregels en kwaliteitsprocedures.
- Je bepaalt mede de teamorganisatie en strategie in het Management Team van ACC
- Je speelt een actieve en leidende rol in het communicatieproces van je projecten en bevordert teamwork
- Je zorgt voor een constant hoog kwaliteitsniveau van de assaying
- Je implementeert de EHS-normen en actieplannen binnen je team.

- Je bent een sterke probleemoplosser, hebt een analytische aanpak en bent creatief in het ontwikkelen van nieuwe methoden en procedures
- Je bent bekend met de praktische eisen van milieu-, gezondheids
- en veiligheidskwesties
- Je bent vertrouwd met de beginselen van kwaliteitsborging
- Je bent goed in netwerken en beschikt over plannings
- en organisatievaardigheden
- Je kan goed omgaan met complexiteit en moeilijke topics in een snel veranderende omgeving
- Je behaalde een academische graad in materiaalwetenschappen, een doctoraat in scheikunde, geologie, natuurkunde, of gelijkwaardig door gevalideerde ervaring
- Je hebt een diepgaande relevante kennis op het gebied van materiaal
- en poederkarakterisatie en hebt een diep inzicht in de relevante technische gebieden
- Je spreekt vloeiend Engels en bent bereid om op korte termijn Nederlands te leren
- Je hebt sterke mondelinge en schriftelijke rapporteringsvaardigheden
