SolarPower Europe, based in Brussels, is recruiting **an International Cooperation Intern **to support our International Cooperation department. SolarPower Europe is a member-led association representing the European solar PV sector. SolarPower Europe’s aim is to ensure that more energy is generated by solar than any other energy source by 2030, and to lead our members in making solar the core of a smart, sustainable and inclusive energy system. We are an award-winning association and have over 270 members spanning 35 countries. We aim to support the scale-up of solar energy globally through engaging with policymakers in Europe and emerging markets to reduce the barriers to solar deployment and international cooperation projects.
SolarPower Europe, through the International Cooperation department, is actively involved in various initiatives supporting the scale-up of solar energy around the world. We are cooperating with organisations such as the European Commission, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the German development cooperation GIZ, as well as national renewable energy associations in emerging markets, to promote solar, share industry best practices, support local capacity building and accelerate the energy transition in countries outside Europe.
You will be joining a growing International Cooperation department. Our main business areas are the development of thought-leading reports on emerging markets and technical papers and participation in key international initiatives, such as the IRENA Coalition for Action and the Global Solar Council. The department is also in charge of the acquisition and implementation of grants and service contracts for international cooperation projects. We also lead SolarPower Europe’s activities related to international trade, international supply chains and quality assurance.

Main tasks
The International Cooperation Intern will assist the Business Analyst (International Cooperation) in:
- Supporting the origination, bidding, and implementation of international cooperation projects including organising and attending project team meetings, tracking actions and deadlines, reporting to implementing partners, and supporting the organisation of virtual and physical workshops related to project deliverables.
- Supporting the delivery of the Solar Quality Summit including speaker briefings, coordination with SolarPower Europe’s events, marketing, and business development teams, and on-site support during the event.
- Supporting the organisation of the Global Associations Workshop at Intersolar in Munich including, inviting, and confirming speakers, coordination with SolarPower Europe’s events, marketing, and business development teams, preparation of presentations for each speaker, and on-site support during the event.
- Support the organisation of the Global Markets workstream’s annual meeting with the European Commission including planning, agenda drafting, invitations, preparing presentations, minute taking, and coordination with the SolarPower Europe communications team.
- Supporting the drafting and proofreading of other International Cooperation team products including policy papers, market reports, and SolarPower Europe’s Best Practice Guidelines, ensuring factual accuracy and consistency, and ordering ISBNs.
- Supporting the preparation of presentations and speaking notes for senior SolarPower Europe staff on International Cooperation team topics including Lifecycle Quality, Supply Chain Transparency, and Emerging Markets.
- Create, maintain and extend a strong network in the field of international development cooperation and renewable energy.
- Contribute to the content and drafting of SolarPower Europe’s quarterly Emerging Markets newsletter.
- Performing any other tasks or duties required as applicable, such booking travel and accommodation for SolarPower Europe team members when required.
Profile
- A bachelor-level degree in a relevant discipline such as International Relations, International Development Cooperation, Economics, Business Administration, Political Science, Renewable Energy or similar.
- Some technical knowledge about renewable energy technology, international renewable energy markets, policy, and regulation, as well as international development cooperation.
- Demonstrated project management and coordination skills.
- Strong drafting skills
